The pension of every public Officer on his ultimate retirement

from the service of Any Colony. shall be calculated (if payable at

all

1) upon the whole period of his continuous service in any

At the date of my appointment to the Attorney Generalship of this Colony I was, and for 3's years previously, from May 3. 1870, had

been Attomey General of Queensland. not being a Member of the permanent Civil Service of the botomy

but liable to lose

my office upon a change of Ministry.

Irespectfully wish to obtain the decision of the Secretary of State, as to whether, under the above mentioned circumstances, I am entitled in rectioning

length of service to count the period I served as Attomey, General in a Colony possessing representative institutions.
